Annual leave is paid leave that employees may take during the year while still receiving salary. In Malaysia, minimum annual leave entitlement generally depends on the employee's length of service.
A common simple approach is to determine the employee's annual leave entitlement based on years of service, then pro-rate the entitlement based on the number of months worked during the year.
This calculator uses a simple pro-rated formula:
Annual Leave Entitlement × Months Worked ÷ 12
If an employee is entitled to 12 days of annual leave and worked 6 months in the year, the pro-rated leave entitlement is 12 × 6 ÷ 12 = 6 days.
This calculator provides an estimate only. Actual entitlement may depend on employment contract, company policy and applicable law.
Minimum annual leave entitlement commonly depends on length of service: 8, 12 or 16 days.
Yes. Annual leave is often pro-rated when an employee joins or leaves during the year.
