Overtime pay is additional pay given to employees who work beyond normal working hours. In Malaysia, overtime calculation may depend on salary, working hours, employment category and applicable labour law.
A common simple estimate is to calculate hourly rate from monthly salary, then multiply it by the overtime rate and overtime hours.
This calculator uses the formula: monthly salary divided by 26 working days, divided by 8 hours, then multiplied by 1.5 times.
If an employee earns RM3,000 per month, the estimated hourly rate is RM3,000 ÷ 26 ÷ 8.
If the employee works 10 overtime hours, the estimated OT pay is hourly rate × 1.5 × 10 hours.
This calculator provides an estimate only. Actual overtime pay may vary depending on employment terms and applicable regulations.
This calculator uses a simple 1.5x overtime rate for estimation.
