Hourly rate is the amount an employee earns for each hour of work. It is useful for calculating overtime pay, part-time wages and daily payroll estimates.
In Malaysia, employees and employers may use hourly rate calculations to estimate pay for overtime, unpaid leave, part-time work or salary comparison.
To estimate hourly rate, divide monthly salary by working days per month, then divide by working hours per day.
Formula:
Hourly Rate = Monthly Salary ÷ Working Days ÷ Working Hours Per Day
If your monthly salary is RM5,000, you work 26 days per month and 8 hours per day, your estimated hourly rate is:
RM5,000 ÷ 26 ÷ 8 = RM24.04 per hour.
Divide your monthly salary by working days per month, then divide by working hours per day.
This calculator provides an estimate only. Actual payroll calculation may depend on company policy and employment terms.
